Justice Federal Credit Union, (Justice Federal), headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, expands its footprint in Florida. The Credit Union announced it has merged with Law Enforcement & Technology Federal Credit Union (LE&T FCU), formerly known as United Police Federal Credit Union, located in Miami, Florida.
Justice Federal has grown to be one of the largest credit unions exclusively serving the justice, law enforcement and public safety community through organic growth and credit union mergers.
“I am extremely pleased to announce the merger with LE&T FCU. The merger supports our strategic plans to grow our membership through opportunistic M&A activity and continued organic growth. Merging with LE&T FCU serves as a catalyst for future expansion to enhance our service to the justice and law enforcement community across the nation,“ said President and CEO Mark Robnett.
The merger will provide LE&T FCU Members access to a broader array of products and services, robust digital technologies, and a larger physical presence with twenty branch locations in eight states and the District of Columbia. Members will also be able to use more than 135,000 surcharge-free ATMs, and over 5,600 CO-OP Shared Branches nationwide.
Justice Federal was founded in the halls of the Department of Justice in 1935, when 12 Members pooled their monies, and with $137 in assets extended small loans to colleagues in need during the Great Depression. Today, with nearly 68,000 Members, and over $1 Billion in assets, Justice Federal is honored to uphold its Founders vision, to help members of the justice, law enforcement, and public safety community and their family thrive for generations to come.
This is the second branch location in Florida for Justice Federal. The Credit Union also has a branch located within the FBI Field Office in Miramar, Florida. The newly acquired LE&T FCU branch is located within the Police Benevolent Association building at 2300 NW 14th Street, Suite N100 Miami, FL 33125 and remains open to serve Members with the same friendly associates. The branch hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, and Thursday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, EST.

Justice Federal Credit Union, (Justice Federal) and Law Enforcement and Technology Federal Credit Union (LE&T FCU) are excited to announce their intent to merge contingent upon member vote. Both credit unions serve the justice and law enforcement community. Once approved, Justice Federal would serve more than 68,000 members, with twenty branches across the nation, and over $1B in assets.
Mark Robnett, President/CEO Justice Federal stated, “when we first spoke with James Angleton, President/CEO LE&T FCU, we shared our visions for our respective credit unions, and realizing the synergies, it was a natural extension for our two credit unions to unite as one and form a partnership.” LE&T FCU provides us with an added presence in Miami to help new and prospective members and their families achieve financial wellness,” said Robnett. Justice Federal currently has a branch within the FBI Miami Division Headquarters in Miramar, Florida.
James Angleton, Jr., President/CEO LE&T FCU agrees, “by combining forces with Justice Federal, LE&T FCU members will benefit from additional financial resources, human capital, and an expanded national platform for existing and potential members.” Angleton adds, “given the demands of increased regulation and technology investments these additional resources will ultimately result in greater economies of scale which is a good thing.”
Both credit unions have a long history of serving the justice and law enforcement community. Justice Federal was founded in 1935, and LE&T FCU in 1936, during the Great Depression era, when their Founders pooled their financial resources to provide small loans to members in need. Today, with over 177 years of service collectively, they continue to uphold the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” by providing financial products and services to members in need.
As member-owned cooperatives, and under the guidelines of the National Credit Union Administration, a successful merger is contingent upon a member vote. Once approved, LE&T FCU’s members, employees, and branch will become part of Justice Federal.
As the merger process moves forward, both credit unions will provide information to their respective memberships via the Justice Federal website at jfcu.org, as well as other relevant communication channels.

Justice Members,
Silicon Valley Bank's sudden collapse on March 10, 2023, and the voluntary liquidation of Silvergate Bank has caused concern in the banking industry as individuals are left with more questions than answers on how such an event could unfold and how financial institutions can be trusted with their deposits.
While this was not a credit union failure, I recognize this banking collapse may create concerns regarding the safety of your deposits, as well as concerns you may have about the soundness of our Credit Union, therefore I want to take this time to communicate how your funds remain safe and secure, and the means we go through to see that they are fully protected.
• Just as bank deposits are insured by the FDIC, the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, (NCUSIF) administered by the National Credit Union Administration, (NCUA), a United States Government agency, insures credit union deposits.
• NCUSIF was created by Congress in 1970 to insure members' deposits in federally insured credit unions.
• The Share Insurance Fund insures individual accounts up to $250,000 and insures a member’s interest in all joint accounts up to $250,000.
It is important to note that Credit Union members have never lost even a penny of insured savings at a federally insured credit union.
Our Focus
For over 88 years, Justice Federal Credit Union has existed as a not-for-profit financial cooperative. Our equity position isn't based on the value of stocks, instead, each Member holds value within our financial institution, meaning everyone has a voice regarding the offerings and direction of the Credit Union.
We have a history of navigating multiple recessions, and most recently a global pandemic, exiting these events even stronger financially which showcases the trust and security you place in us. We continue to invest in the financial well-being of our Members, while safeguarding the Credit Union’s assets through prudent financial management.
Financial Management
Justice Federal Credit Union undergoes regular financial audits conducted by the NCUA charged with regulating all federal credit unions, and we also conduct independent audits to maintain the highest quality of safety and security you deserve.
Our Commitment
Justice Federal Credit Union remains committed to providing you with exceptional service by inspiring trust and providing sound and prudent financial management, which will continue to remain a core value and focus for years to come.
Our conservative approach has helped us achieve sound and prudent results since 1935 in both good and difficult economic times, resulting in a credit union that is well positioned to continue the steadfast principle of being the unwavering partner to the justice and law enforcement community.
We are proud of our commitment to serving you and your family and look forward to continuing to do so for generations to come.
Sincerely,
Mark L. Robnett
